The Institute also has ties to the Early Music Institute, whose members perform music from the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque eras. Its annual Symposium is organized by graduate students from participating departments and it offers several grants in aid and awards for graduate students, including the Andrea S. McRobbie Award. The Institute publishes a biannual on-line newsletter.
