Founded in 1969, the Institute of German Studies fosters interdisciplinary study and research in all aspects of modern German literary and cultural studies on the Bloomington campus. The Institute is fortunate in being able to award a number of highly competitive Max Kade Fellowships for those pursuing an M.A. or Ph.D. in German studies or related fields. The Institute also organizes and cosponsors events, such as lectures, workshops, and conferences.
