Founded in 1985, the Center for Real Estate Studies (CRES) was established to provide a comprehensive real estate resource, serving as a vehicle for interaction between faculty, students, alumni, recruits, professional organizations, and others with an interest in real estate. Center activities are designed to build external relationships through encouragement of interaction between university faculty and real estate professionals.
The goals of the Center compelement and enhance those of Indiana University in the following areas:
Research: Conduct theoretical and applied research projects that increase understanding of the many dimentsions of real estate; improve the quantity and quality of real estate research through development of data and support of faculty in real estate related disciplines; and support publication of research findings in academic and professional journals.
Education: Increase the awareness of students, faculty and professionals with respect to current real estate issues; promote interactions between students and professionals in order to provide students with a better understanding of real estate markets and career opportunities; enhance the educational level of university students through scholarships and work opportunities; and support development of educational materials, seminars and other opportunities for life-long education.
Service: Act as a source of information and public service for the general real estate industry by disseminating information via mass media, newsletters, and other publications; increase the knowledge of the real estate community by supporting faculty in organizing and attending academic and professional meetings and seminars; provide opportunities for interaction between the university and real estate community; and provide service to various real estate academic and professional associations.
